Desiccants

dessicant incorporated in the spacer
  • Definition
The desiccant is incorporated in the spacer to ensure the dehydration of the air or gas space in the insulating glazing.
The most frequently used desiccant is the molecular sieve. This is a synthetic product with pores whose diameters are close to that of a water molecule. Due to a physical phenomenon, the water is thus "trapped" in these microcanals.

  • Use in CEKAL-certified insulating glazing
A desiccant must have been subjected to a long ageing test without UVs and with gas in insulating glazing, as per the CEKAL rule.
