Mastic sealants

Mastic sealant
  • Definition
Mastic sealant
The sealing of the assembly is ensured by a "sealing" product of the polysulfide, polyurethane, silicone or "hot melt" butyl type, that demonstrates good adhesion to the glass and to the spacer.
Note : in the context of CEKAL certification, the type of mastic sealant is the essential element to characterize the process.

  • Use in CEKAL certified insulating glazing
A mastic sealant must have been subjected to:

- a long ageing test with UVs and with gas in insulating glazing, as per the CEKAL rule and with a condensate detection test,

- an adhesiveness-cohesion test with the spacer concerned.
