Float glass

float glass
  • Definition

Flat glass is currently manufactured using the technique referred to as "floating".
The glass is produced through the melting of a mixture of mineral materials in a "float" furnace. The particularity of this process is to pour the molten glass onto a surface that is perfectly flat and free of defects: a bath of molten tin. The glass thus produced is referred to as "annealed", and has practically no internal tension.
  • Use in CEKAL - certified glazing
Monolithic glass panes that are annealed and comply with standard EN 572 related to flat glass can be used.
